Bell tolls for Meistersinger chiming repeater

MeisterSinger has added a new Bell Hora repeater that chimes every hour to its collection of single-handed timepieces.

MeisterSinger has added a new repeater that chimes every hour to its collection of single-handed timepieces.

The Edition Bell Hora is designed in the style of an early pocket watch, when personal portable timekeepers were taking over from public clocks with their hourly or quarterly chimes.

Meistersinger introduced the Bell Hora in the spring of this year with a blue dial.

The latest edition, limited to 100 pieces, is white with hour markers from one to 24 snailing towards the centre and minutes picked out in fine detail at the exterior.

A 44mm polished steel case houses a Sellita SW 200 automatic movement, modified with the chiming complication. It has 38 hour power reserve.

Over a period of 60 minutes, the movement gathers energy for a precise, carefully measured chime on the hour from a sound fork located behind the dial.

Along with its crown at 3 o’clock, the watch has a pusher that de-activates the chime if people prefer their day not to be punctuated every hour.

The watch is expected to go on sale in mid-September for £3,690.
