Bell & Ross gets complicated with minute repeater

Bell & Ross has launched its PW1 Argentium with a minute repeater complication – a “super limited edition” timepiece that it says will cement its place as prestigious Swiss watchmaker.

The brand launched the PW1 Argentium last year – a pocket watch made from a nickel-free, tarnish-resistant silver alloy – but has now updated the model with a minute repeater complication, called the PW1 Répétition Minutes.

The brand said: “With the creation of the PW1 Répétition Minutes, Bell & Ross reinterprets the pocket watch, imbuing it with poetry.”

The repeater emits a low-pitched chime for each hour, followed by a series of double low-pitched and high-pitched chimes for every five minutes elapsed. The complication is activated by pressing the button on the left-hand side of the case.

The PW1 Répétition Minutes has been designed in the tradition of period watches with a barleycorn guilloché caseback that opens to reveal the mechanism.

The pocket watch is set to retail in the UK for £26,000, but Bell & Ross is yet to confirm the number of timepieces that will be made due the expertise and time taken to make each watch.
