Baume & Mercier Geres up for film festival

Baume & Mercier will be walking up the red carpet tomorrow, when the 62nd TaorminaFilmFest gets underway.

The brand is the main partner of the week-long Sicilian film festival, which Richard Gere is overseeing this year as honorary president.

The Swiss watch brand has created a limited edition Clifton model to mark the occasion that will be awarded to the winner of the Clifton Taormina Award.

This model has been designed to celebrate the art of film – the 39 mm 18K red gold case is enhanced by the sapphire case back adorned with the festival’s logo, while the design of its minute track is reminiscent of a film reel. It will be produced in a series of 62 pieces to celebrate the 62nd edition of the Festival and will be available from June 2016, exclusively in Italy.

Alain Zimmermann, chief executive officer of Baume & Mercier, will present an award to six international figures: Harvey Keitel, Jeremy Renner, Ambra Angiolini, Claudio Santamaria e Alessandro Preziosi. Male actors will receive the Clifton Taormina Award watch, our classical round range, while the actresses will receive the Promesse Taormina Award and will be given a watch from the Promesse collection, our last feminine launch.

The first Clifton Taormina Award limited edition watch was presented by Zimmermann to Gere, this week during the premiere of “Time Out of Mind” at the American Embassy in Rome on 8 June. The watch will be put up for auction in Taormina tomorrow, during the opening night of the Festival. The proceeds will go to the FIO. Psd Foundation on behalf of the “Housing First” project and the #HomelessZero campaign.
