Batman returns at August luxury watch auction

Limited edition from Romain Jerome could excite additional interest since the watchmaker went bust during the Covid lock down.

Fellows Auctioneers is highlighting a Batman watch by Romain Jerome that will go under the hammer at its Luxury Watch Sale on August 24.

Romain Jerome was renamed as RJ in 2018, but went into administration earlier this year in the first weeks of the Covid-19 pandemic in Europe.

That could make a limited edition Batman, with a pre-sale estimate of £6,000 to £8,000, even more desirable to collectors.

It is already a rare watch, being number 16 of only 75 made.

The watch has skeletonized dial with the Batman logo overlooking a map of Gotham City.

Laura Bishop, watch manager at Fellows, says: “Every now and then we have modern, quirky watches up for auction and this Batman watch is a perfect example. In the past we have sold watches containing the world’s oldest rum, now this timepiece by Romain Jerome is another original contemporary watch which perfectly encapsulates the theme of Batman.”

Fellows’ August Luxury Watch auction has 181 watches up for sale.

Other highlights include a Rolex Submariner “MilSub”, estimated at £50,000 – £70,000, and a full set of Dirty Dozen watches, estimated at £25,000 – £35,000.
