Basel Day 1: Inox is tough to beat

Victorinox has unveiled a show-stoppingly bold steel case range that is sure to become the Swiss brand’s signature collection.

The 43mm Inox features a geometric, faceted bezel and sculpted case and undergoes 130 gruelling tests to prove its undeniable robustness. The ordeals it is expected to survive include a 10 metre fall onto concrete, to hours in a washing machine and two passes of a 64-ton tank driving over it.

Water resistant to 200m, the Inox features a single piece dial with stamped indices with the attachment of the hands undergoing reinforcement.

A slightly elevated bezel ensures the crystal is protected while the crown is flanked by two guards.

With the Inox, Victorinox is also introducing a new removable bumper concept to protect the watch from cosmetic damage. The bumper is composed of silicon and nylon and grips the watch head whilst maintaining legibility.

The Inox, powered by a Ronda quartz movement, is available with rubber strap and dial in matching black, khaki green or navy blue.
