Bangalore Watch Company puts bat to ball on changing perception of Indian watchmaking

The brand debuted with its gents dress watches in 2018, and has expanded their catalogue to a Pilot watch inspired by the Indian Air Force and most recently, an urban-sports watch that celebrates the sport of Cricket.

Independent watch brand, Bangalore Watch Company, is set on changing the perception of Indian watchmaking for all the right reasons.

Founded by couple Nirupesh Joshi and Mercy Almaraj in Bangalore, India, the duo were keen on the idea of storytelling through watchmaking.

Pained by the absence of a luxury watch brand in their home country, the couple quit their tech-consultancy roles in Hong Kong and embarked on the watchmaking adventure, investing a significant chunk of their life savings into getting the brand off the ground.

Speaking to WatchPro, Joshi explained: “The idea is to produce high-quality automatic watches that are designed, and built in Bangalore. Each collection tells a story from a 21st century modern view of India.”

With a large chunk of its market being India expats living around the world, in just a short time the brand has built a quiet but enthusiastic following since its founding.

Shipping worldwide via FedEx or DHL, the brand is available only online for the moment but is keen to look at retail distribution as it grows.
