Visitors to Switzerland’s Watch Valley will soon be able to check into Audemars Piguet’s Hôtel des Horlogers, according to the New York Post.
The paper reports that the hotel, which includes 50 rooms and was designed by Danish architect Bjarke Ingels, will open in 2021.
And its quirky design includes a roof that doubles up as a ramp that guests are able to ski down.
The watch manufacturer has operated a hotel in the region for many years, in the village where Audemars Piguet was born, and the plans to re-imagine the destination were first announced in 2018.
As well as containing 50 rooms, the space will also include a museum paying tribute to the watchmaker.
Ingels, who has a great personal interest in watches, was selected to design the hotel by the brand and has reportedly found the process challenging.
As reported by the New York Post, Audemars historian Michael Friedman, who was closely involved with the process, said: “Bjarke can tell you as much about the wristwatch he has on as any collector in the world.
“The challenge was temperature, given our fierce, long winters, then dust and humidity control, as all the watchmakers will be working inside the museum.”
