Arnold Schwarzenegger muscles in on watch market

Arnold Schwarzenegger has been at Baselworld this week to launch his own brand of wristwatches.

The actor-turned-politician has teamed up with Brazilian watchmaker Magnum Group to create a watch line under his own name.

At the company’s Baselworld booth, three collections inspired by his careers in body-building, acting and politics are currently on display to visitors.

“We’ve been working on it for a year and a half and finally Magnum came through with a lot of dedication and hard work,” said Schwarzenegger at a special event to launch the watches.

The new line is set to go on sale in September and will contain timepieces priced between £378 and £1,869. Magnum, which has also launched its Champion Neymar collection at the exhibition, is aiming to launch them globally.

Magnum is considered one of the leaders of the South American watch market and has its headquarters in Sao Paulo. It also has branches elsewhere in Brazil and a facility in Hong Kong.

Magnum Group is the owner of the national brands as Champion, Cosmos, Magnum and Yankee Street and it has an exclusive license to trade well known international brands such as Bulova, Technomarine, Sector, Just Cavalli and Frederique Constant.
