Applications for places on upcoming courses at the British School of Watchmaking close on July 1.

Prospective students are invited to apply for the 1800 hour course for which assessment days are being held in August and the longer 3000 hour course that has its assessments in April next year.

All applicants are required to sit an assessment before they are accepted onto our courses. The assessment process is over one day and held in Manchester at the school. It consists of an interview, theory test and a dexterity test.

Course places are then offered to the candidates achieving the highest grades on the assessment day, with a maximum of eight places available on each course per session.

A GCSE or equivalent in English, Maths and Science at grade C or above is a mandatory requirement to apply for a place at the school. Providing this requirement is met, anyone, regardless of age or experience is eligible to apply for the course.

The WOSTEP 1800 Hour Programme is centred on preparing the student to provide routine service of mechanical and quartz watches.

The WOSTEP 3000 Hour Programme prepares students for employment as watch repairers in autonomous roles. Graduates are able to service, adjust (repair) and encase various products (both mechanical and electronic) available on the contemporary market. Watch repairers understand and apply various theoretical knowledge to repair situations where they may not have encountered a certain calibre or type of repair previously. Watch repairers are able to evaluate, adjust or manufacture certain components where necessary in order to resolve repairs.
