Antiques roadshow for watches launched by Bonhams in Bicester

Senior specialists from the company’s Bond Street and Knightsbridge offices will be hosting valuation days at The Guard House, Bicester Heritage on the first Monday of every month from September onwards.

Bond Street institution Bonhams is taking its auction valuation team on the road with its watch department offering free consultations at its Bicester Heritage satellite office every month starting September 2.

Senior specialists from the company’s Bond Street and Knightsbridge offices will be hosting valuation days at The Guard House, Bicester Heritage on the first Monday of every month from September onwards.

As well as offering valuations on individual or collections of pre-owned, vintage, modern or antique timepieces, they will give confidential advice on how to build and refine collections.

The department regularly holds watches and wristwatches sales at the Bonhams London salerooms with the forthcoming Knightsbridge sale taking place on September 10, and the next bi-annual international Fine Wristwatches sale on December 11 at New Bond Street.

The auctioneer aims to make the public more aware of the prices it is achieving for top brands including Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Cartier, Heuer, IWC, Omega and Vacheron Constantin.

“The Bonhams valuation days offer the best opportunity for our specialists to examine in detail any watch or wristwatch that people may be considering selling – without the need for them to travel to London,” says Jonathan Darracott (pictured above), Bonhams global head of watches.

“We often are able to surprise people with the values especially of complicated watches (such as chronographs) by known brands bought in the 60-80’s which might have sat in a drawer and thought to have little value,” he adds.
