Andrea Bocelli’s limited-edition watch, produced by Locman for DE ANGELIS under the ALPEMARE brand, has been sold at auction for €19,500.
The auction, which took place in Forte dei Marmi on 26th June, was a double achievement as it also broke the record for Italian watchmaking that has doubled the one achieved at the last edition as well as raising money for charity.
It was the result of a collaboration between Antiquorum, the historic Swiss auction house specialising in watches, Maurizio De Angelis, the prestigious luxury vintage watch boutique in Forte dei Marmi and the Alpemare beach club, owned by Andrea Bocelli.
Andrea Bocelli took the decision to auction his own personal watch, with his initials engraved in the forged carbon, which sold for €15,000 plus €4,500 in auction fees.
The proceeds of the sale will be donated to the Andrea Bocelli Foundation.
The star of the charity auction is the Stealth watch, Locman’s must-have model exclusively customised for De Angelis and Alpemare.
This self-winding timepiece, water-resistant to 300 metres, with carbon and titanium case and carbon fibre dial is a powerful divers’ watch, resistant to shocks and atmospheric pressures.
The partnership with the DE ANGELIS company and ALPEMARE has led to the creation of a limited edition of just 100 timepieces, the result of the friendship and mutual respect between Marco Mantovani, President of LOCMAN, and Maurizio De Angelis, a fine watchmaking collector and dealer.
Manotivani commented: “The love of the sea and of watchmaking that I share with Maurizio De Angelis led to the creation of this new watch. This is an important model for Locman, which has drawn on all our expertise, including our mastery of innovative composite materials.”
Adding: “Locman was the first company in the world to produce a watch with a carbon fibre case in 2003. This extraordinary material makes the watch perfect for sports and underwater use and links it inextricably to the sea. It’s the ideal model for this collaboration.”
