Ambiente announces watch brands for 2013 show

German trade show Ambiente has announced some of the watch brands due to showcase their wares at its newly established watch area.

The show, which takes places next month between February 15 to 19 at the Messe Frankfurt, announced that it would host a special watch section this year, in reaction to interest from exhibitors and an increasing demand for directional timepieces. It is said to be near fully-booked for this year’s show.

The focus of the new watch area is said to be “trend-driven and design-oriented watch manufacturers”. Brands expected to show include M&M Germany, the Marlox Group, Puma Time, Mondaine, Arne Jacobsen, Jacob Jensen and Rosendahl.

Yvonne Engelmann, head of Ambiente’s Giving Section, said: “What also particularly pleased me were the numerous inquiries from international suppliers. For the coming Ambiente, however, we shall start by concentrating on the watch market in German-speaking countries and then, as a second step, extend the offering to international exhibitors.”

The new space is circled by Carat, the area dedicated to jewellery and accessories, with the halls laid out in such a way that buyers in the jewellery and lifestyle segments will have only short distances to cover to reach the watch area.

Ambiente is the leading international trade fair for products for the table, kitchen, household, giving and decorating, as well as for home and furnishing accessories. About 4,500 exhibitors occupy 27 exhibition halls during five days.
