Health and fitness is a key battle ground for touchscreen and analogue connected timepieces, which makes Alpina’s release of a heart rate monitoring belt that talks to the AlpinerX watch and popular activity apps such as Strava a smart move.
The AlpinerX connected sports watch was launched by Alpina on Kickstarter, where the brand encouraged customers to vote for the features, style and colors it prefers.
Steps and heart rate tracking are among the most popular features, which is why they are common on today’s connected watches.
Tracking with a heart rate monitoring belt that straps sensors directly to the chest makes them more accurate, Alpina says.
The monitoring belt is activated by the AlpinerX watch and it then feeds data to companion apps for steps, calories burnt, GPS tracking and heart rate. “This helps to balance and improve performances and encourages individuals to reach their summit,” Alpiner says.
