Alexandre Meerson reveals sports luxe D15 Mk-1 GMT

New luxury British watch company Alexandre Meerson has launched its sportiest design so far, the D15 Mk-1 GMT.

With a case crafted from grey gold and Grade 5 titanium, GMT hand, complex faceted lugs and intricately engraved multi-level dial, the D15 Mk-1 GMT is built with the gentleman traveller in mind.

The watch uses a Vaucher Fleurier movement and Dubois Dupraz module for the GMT function.

Meerson, who launched his eponymous company last year with headquarters in Surrey, has created a watch he describes as ‘athletic’, constructed with features more akin to a dedicated sports watch such as the subtly curved, ergonomic caseback and 100m water resistance.

The watch will be offered on bespoke Louisiana alligator or Barenia calf leather straps although Meerson showed WatchPro a range of exotic strap materials he is developing including Nile Perch, Wolf Fish and Salmon as part of a drive to make each of his watches as bespoke as possible.

While Meerson produces luxury watches he has adopted a retail approach that flies in the face of that of other luxury brands. He sells direct through the company’s website and only works with retailers which can fulfil a specific set of criteria, such as seated areas so that the pieces can be explained to customers. The company has so far signed up Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche in Paris and AceJewellers in Amsterdam as retail partners.

Three references of the D15 Mk-1 GMT will be available from September with True Blue, Silvered White and Eternity Black dials priced from £13,500.
