Ace Jewelers starts talking to clients using WhatsApp

Amsterdam-based Ace Jewelers has started to use WhatsApp to ‘interact and communicate’  with its clients.

The family-owned business, which stocks Bremont, Omega, Parmigiani Fleurier and Oris watches among others, states that it is the first luxury jeweller in the Netherlands to use the social media app to reach customers.

Tamarah Albek, e-Commerce Manager of Ace Jewelers, said: “In luxury retail, communication is key. Channels such as FaceBook, live chat, and Instagram allow us to explain the emotions and stories that come with the wonderful watches, jewellery and other items we sell.

“At the same time they allow us to offer the high level of service that people have come to expect of us, by offering easy ways to contact us, ask questions and receive updates on orders through a range of platforms. WhatsApp is one of the most popular means of communication today. As such, it is a perfect addition to the options we already offer. It allows us to answer questions, send pictures and give information in a way that is easy and user-friendly to both our clients as well as ourselves.”

WhatsApp is an instant messaging service for smart phones founded in 2009. As of January 2016, WhatsApp had up to 990 million users, making it the most popular messaging application worldwide. According to recent research, there are a some 9.8 million users in the Netherlands, making it the most popular social platform – even surpassing FaceBook in number of users.

Retailer Ace Jewelers was founded in Amsterdam in 1975 and in 2008 became the first Dutch jewellers to integrate an integrated eboutique to its business model.
