Accurist has become the first British watch company to win certification from the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC).
The London-based watch company had to pass an audit by Peter Warbrick of independent firm SGS to ensure that it meets the “highest ethical, social and environmental standards established by the RJC’s Member Certification system”.
Accurist managing director Andrew Loftus said: “Ever since Accurist was founded in 1946, we have been driven by the values of quality, reliability and honesty. These values apply not only to the products that bear our name, but also to the way we operate.
“Our decision to apply for membership of the Responsible Jewellery Council was based on our mutual and shared beliefs in ethical sourcing as well as the importance of open and accountable working practices. Accurist prides itself on good corporate citizenship and is delighted to become the first British watch company with RJC certification.”
