A. Lange & Söhne’s best known timepiece celebrates 25 years with jubilee edition

The German-based manufactory is making the most of the anniversary of the Lange 1, and has released a limited edition to celebrate.

A. Lange & Söhne is celebrating 25 years of its best known timepiece with a ‘Jubilee’ edition.

The Lange 1 was launched in 1994 and the German-based manufactory is making the most of its anniversary with a special edition release of the award winning watch.

Limited to 250 pieces, the 25th Anniversary edition comes in white gold and has a deep-blue printed argenté dial with a re-cess, blue date numerals, a hinged cuvette with an engraving of Lange’s headquarters and a hand-engraved balance cock with blued lines.

The piece is powered by in-house caliber L121.1, a movement manually wound, decorated and assembled by hand and precision-adjusted in five positions.

When fully wound, the watch, which is set in a 38.5mm diameter case, has a power reserve of 72 hours and comes with an alligator leather dark, blue strap.

As part of the announcement, A. Lange & Söhne described October 24 1994, the original release date of the Lange 1, as ‘the most important day’ in the firm’s recent history, due to it being the day company founder Walter Lange and his partner Günter Blümlein presented the first four new-era wristwatches at the Dresden Palace.

The company believes the move put it back on the map of international watchmaking, making 2019 a year they want to use to celebrate.
