Chopard unveils its 2020 Mille Miglia limited edition watches

Every year Chopard produces a new limited edition as part of its partnership, and the wealthy patrons that participate in and support the Mille Miglia have turned the watches into valuable collectors’ items.

Chopard’s relationship with the Mille Miglia dates back to 1988, and the watchmaker has been both the principal partner and official timekeeper every year since.

Mille Miglia is a road race for classic and vintage cars starting in Brescia, Northern Italy that tours down to Rome in the centre of the country, and back; a round trip of around 1000 kilometres.

Every year Chopard produces a new limited edition as part of its partnership, and the wealthy patrons that participate in and support the Mille Miglia have turned the watches into valuable collectors’ items.

2020 may be a year like no other, but Chopard has stuck to its strategy and created two versions of a new automatic chronograph.

There will be a production run of 1,000 for a version in a beadblasted DLC-treated stainless steel case and 250 that have an additional 18ct rose gold band around the dial.

“We had our younger clients in mind when we created this year’s watch. Younger generations are increasingly interested in classic cars, and we’re seeing newly married couples as well as father-and-son tandems taking part in events such as the Mille Miglia. This year’s watch is very much intended for them,” says Chopard co-president and 31-time Mille Miglia competitor Karl-Friedrich Scheufele.

The 42mm watches have central hours, minutes and seconds hands, small seconds at 3 o’clock, 30-minute and 12-hour counters, date between 4 and 5 o’clock and a tachymeter scale powered by

Their matt black-varnished dial have the red 1000 Miglia logo at 12 o’clock.

They are worn on a perforated black leather strap.

Mille Miglia Race Edition is priced at CHF 6,700 with the two tone model costing CHF 8,400.
