Crystalline hours watch

50 Brands of Basel: Swarovski

Swarovski has revealed its first automatic watch for women just in time for Baselworld.

Crystalline Hours was designed for Swarovski  by renowned watch designer and long-term partner of Swarovski Eric Giroud, who has also designed watches for the likes of MB&F, MCT and Romain Jerome.

Giroud’s design features 4,000 tiny faceted crystals on its dial which are shown off to maximum effect by a heavily domed sapphire crystal, further accentuated by the lines of the case.

Nathalie Colin, Swarovski’s creative director, said: “When we started the design phase, we wondered how to feature as many crystals as possible within such a limited space, without compromising on the understated elegance of the watch. We came up with this idea to reverse proportions and elaborate a transparent case which would allow a front and back view of both the movement and the crystals. I love the idea that not everything gets revealed at the first glance, it is more mysterious”.

Two versions will be available at launch; a stainless steel version with clear crystals and white, croc-embossed leather strap and a rose gold PVD version with black crystals and black, croc-embossed leather strap.
