Hublot’s latest model has nothing to hide it would seem after the Swiss brand revealed the Big Bang Unico Sapphire ahead of Baselworld.
Hublot has hewn 500 of the limited edition timepieces from solid blocks of sapphire crystal, which is notoriously difficult to machine.
It is the second sapphire-cased watch revealed by Hublot in as many months after the MP05 LaFerrari Sapphire revealed in Geneva last month.
The 45mm watch’s case middle, bezel and back are all cut from solid blocks of sapphire by a Swiss specialist employed by Hublot. Only a few components are constructed from titanium including the screw, crown and deployment buckle while the open dial is made from transparent resin. Even the watch’s strap is transparent.
