100 piece special edition to honour life and work of watch brand’s founder

Mühle-Glashütte is honouring the life and work of its founder by launching a Robert Mühle special edition, limited to just 100 pieces.

The brand said the watch aims to breathe fresh life into a classic complication that is the date hand, which Mühle-Glashütte considers to be a rare treasure.

The “RMK 03” movement is at the centre of the timepiece and is based on the Robert Mühle RMK 01 calibre with an up/down display that has been given a new design. In the RMK 03, it welcomes an additional complication in the form of the date hand, which is located in the second third of the module plate, the brand said.

With the small-second display at the 6 o’clock position, the movement contains 180 components with a total of 33 jewels and therefore features nearly 35 more components than the RMK 01. In keeping with the spirit of Glashütte’s watchmaking tradition, the new movement additionally has screwed gold chatons and an engraved balance cock.

The calibre contains the company’s patented woodpecker neck regulation, which it claims is particularly shockproof. In addition, the cover plate was designed as a three-fifth plate with a separate balance cock for the escape wheel.

The watch’s three totalisators are supposed to contrast to the anthracite-coloured background of the face, while the hour numerals and indices, which complement the watch’s stainless steel hands, according to Mühle-Glashütte. The watch has a 44-millimetre-wide case made of brushed and polished stainless steel and a crocodile leather strap with a stainless steel folding clasp.
