100 BRANDS AT BASELWORLD: No.21 – Bausele

Bausele will become the first Australian watch brand to be accepted to exhibit at Baselworld next month.

The company is the first luxury Australian-designed brand to manufacture its watches in Switzerland, so Baselworld provides the perfect global platform to reveal its 2015 collections. They will be located in Hall 2.2 / stand F 36.

Bausele, an acronym for Beyond AUStralian ELEments, incorporates references to the great island nation in every watch including physical elements that can be seen within every one of a kind hollow crown.

The company has also created its own composite material – Bauselite – in conjunction with the Australian Centre for Nanoscale Science & Technology. The lightweight cermamic features in several watches in the 2015 line up.

In the future, Bausele hopes to bring more of its manufacturing processes to Australia. “The aim is to create timepieces crafted through the combined skills of Australian and Swiss engineering,” the company says, adding: “Innovation drives us, exacting quality is our benchmark, and we thrive on beautiful and unique designs.”

The UK market is high on a list of target countries for Bausele. Speaking to WatchPro in 2013, the company’s founder Christophe Hoppé said: “The UK market seems like a natural next step due to the history between both countries.”
