Zenith launches HERO watch with new classic rally partner

Zenith watches announced a new motorsport partnership with a classic car rally series at London’s Royal Automobile Club yesterday.

Zenith’s chief executive officer Aldo Magada was in town to launch the partnership with the UK-based Historic Endurance Rallying Organisation (Hero).

The Swiss watch brand, best known for its El Primero high-beat chronograph movement, becomes the official timekeeper of the Hero Cup series.

To celebrate Zenith, which supports a number of classic car-based associations, also unveiled a limited edition El Primero Chronomaster 1969 HERO Cup edition watch, limited to 100 pieces, one of which will be presented to the future winner of the Hero Cup. The 42mm watch features the Hero logo on its 12-hour chronograph counter at the six o’clock position and red stitching on its black leather strap.

The Hero Cup series, which has been running since 1993 when it pioneered the concept of long-distance rallies created specifically for vintage cars, kicks off this month with the Winter Challenge in Monte-Carlo with a number of stages taking place in the UK, including the Scottish Malts, a series of timed-trials between famous whisky distilleries.
