The Tour Auto, a motoring challenge that trace its history all the way back to 1899, roared into life this week in Paris with Zenith providing the official timekeeping.
Vintage cars lined up at the Grand Palais in Paris on Monday for final preparations and photo calls before setting off for a race that will end in Biarritz on Saturday.
It was a big event for Zenith, which has entered three drivers in the race, and used the day to publicly launch an El Primero Chronomaster 1969 Tour Auto Edition, created especially for the race.
The Tour Auto is the oldest automotive challenge still running today.
The event brings together 233 vintage sports cars including BMW, Ferrari, Porsche, Jaguar, Renault, Citroën, Lancia and Ford, to take part in a series of challenges including an endurance race, relay rallies and pack racing.
The racing also attracts a number of vintage drivers, including Le Mans legends Yannick Dalmas and Gérard Larrousse.
One of Zenith’s drivers is brand ambassador Félix Baumgartner, who recently broke several world records when he skydived from a balloon from the edge of space.
