York to debut watches with historic legacy

By Hallie Engel

York will debut its Fort de Lippe Trilogy watch collection on November 1, at Munich Time 2013.

Named after a UNESCO world heritage site in Portugal, the collection was designed by His Highness York Prince of Schaumburg-Lippe as a tribute to his forefather, Count Wilhelm of Schaumburg-Lippe. A leader in the war of 1762, the count ordered the construction of Fort de Nossa Senhora da Graça, which was later renamed Fort de Lippe in his honour.

Featuring 18 carat rose gold, the three time pieces in the collection include the Fort de Lippe – Falcon Diamond with 3.2 ct white diamonds, the Fort de Lippe – Blue Heritage and the Fort de Lippe – Original. Each watch rests in a velvet-lined case of hand-hewn solid quartz-slate, created by the house of Kussmaul, a German design company. The unique shape of the case also reflects the architectural elements of the stone battlements found at Fort de Lippe and the inside lid features a plate engraved with the watch series numbers.

The numbered, limited editions will be made for nine collectors worldwide and will be personally presented by His Highness York Prince of Schaumburg-Lippe.The name and date of acquisition will also be commemorated on an engraved plate inside the case.
