Earlier this year WatchPro unveiled its Watches of the Year 2013, made up of 10 winning timepieces and 90 highly commended watches that we felt boasted commercial appeal, innovation and had wowed consumers and retailers alike over the past 12 months.
The winner of the WatchPro Trendsetting Watch of the Year 2013 was the Accurist Vintage
Vintage-look clothing, fashion, furniture and accessories have been splashed across the pages of lifestyle publications in 2013 and Accurist has led the watch pack with its interpretation of the theme.
The team behind Brit brand Accurist has worked tirelessly this year on its rebrand, making sure retailers know exactly what defines it.
And it was while reasserting the brand’s heritage and its 1946 foundation that it also engaged with the ongoing retro explosion with its own Vintage collection, inspired by the finest models from its 66-year history.
Not only has the brand tapped into a fashion that goes beyond watches but it also set the ball rolling for the popularity of Nato straps, a stand out trend for watches in 2013.
The Accurist Vintage models are characterised by a classic Bombay dial and, while there are black or brown calfskin strap options available, it is the multi-coloured Nato strap that has come to be synonymous with Accurist and cement the brand’s trendsetting status.
After Accurist launched its Vintage watches, complete with Nato strap, there seemed to be a proliferation of the nylon strap style on the market, which has been used to give very classic looking watches a more fashion-forward edge.
The Accurist Vintage models show off the full impact of the Nato strap, which is coupled with a case choice of stainless steel with either a rose gold or yellow gold colour plating. When a style is delivered so well, it’s easy to see why a trend follows.
