Ressence’s signature look is so alien to traditional watch design that you’d be forgiven for not understanding what it is you’re looking at.
On first glance the Ressence almost looks like the digital display of a smartwatch. But its unique look is due to the optical effect of flooding the space between the dial and the heavily domed crystal with a fluid which has refractive properties closer to that of the crystal than air.
This gives the appearance that the information on the dial is being presented directly on the crystal. While the Type 3 itself is powered by a traditional automatic movement, a complicated module has been developed to act as interface to the dial’s rotating sub-dials.
It’s not only hands that have been removed from the Ressence, it also manages to get by without a crown.
