WOTY 2014: H Moser & Cie Venturer Small Seconds

Highly Commended. Luxury Watches of the Year 2014.

The deceptively simple, classic design of the Venturer must have taken a great deal of work to refine and perfect. Rather than relying on flourishes or innovation, the Moser succeeds through perfectly realised proportions, symmetry and restraint.

The steeped Ardoise or slate grey metallic sunburst dial is a thing of beauty, framed to perfection by the vivid red gold case. The lugs flow gracefully with the lines of the case and are wide enough apart to make the alligator pin buckle strap seem like a natural extension of the watch head.

Moser’s inhouse manufacture Calibre HMC 327 lies at the heart of the watch featuring a three-day power reserve, hacking (small) seconds and a wealth of fine finishing techniques. At 32mm, the movement is a neat fit inside the 39mm case and sits close to the sapphire crystal caseback to offer the best view possible.
