WOTY 2014: Calibre de Cartier Diver

Cartier’s first ever divers watch refused to jettison some of the brand’s signature design DNA such as the crown cabochon despite the Roman numeral hour markers initially raising a few eyebrows.

The Cartier’s spec met the requirement of ISO-6425 with 300m water resistance, great legibility, running indication, unidirectional bezel, strap durability as well as resistance to shock, magnetism and chemical corrosion.

Given the current popularity of the divers watch, this piece’s accessibility (relative to the sector) and the weight that Cartier’s name carries, both in jewellery and increasingly in the world of horology, this piece has the potential to turn Cartier’s current watch sales slump around.
