WOTY 2012: Chopard L.U.C. XP Skeletec

Earlier this year WatchPro unveiled its Watches of the Year 2012 – the 10 winning timepieces and 90 highly commended watches that we felt boasted commercial appeal, innovation and had wowed consumers and retailers alike over the past 12 months.

Highly commended in the Limited Edition Watch of the Year category was the Chopard L.U.C. XP Skeletec.

The Skeletec is a watch of feats, housing the L.U.C. Calibre 96.17-S, an ultra-thin movement equipped with two barrels and the first skeletonised calibre produced by Chopard Manufacture.

This fabulous timepiece is limited to just 288 pieces worldwide and is a new level of luxury from the watch brand.

Inside its case is a self-winding calibre that boasts a 65-hour power reserve thanks to Chopard’s propriety Twin technology — a system combining two Co-Axial barrels carefully designed to fit into a slender 3.3mm movement.

Its mainplate is adorned with Côtes de Genève on the dial side, while its open-work design is black rhodium-plated for contrast.

This is a gorgeous timepiece with every flourish expected of the luxury brand, including an alligator leather strap with an 18ct rose gold pin buckle.
