Rm 50 02 acj tourbillon split seconds chronograph

WatchPro at SIHH: Richard Mille

Nothing’s ever simple in universe of Monsieur Mille. This year his eponymous brand demonstrated that even the humble pen could be subjected to extraordinarily complex engineering principles with a 100,000 Euro fountain pen that uses a minute repeater mechanism to retract and advance its nib.

But the big announcement this year was Mille’s partnership with Airbus Corporate Jets and the resulting RM 50-02 ACJ Tourbillon. The body of the watch is made from the same Titanium-Aluminium alloy that is used to make Airbus’ jet turbine blades while the bezel, fastened with Airbus’ own variety of Torq screws, is formed from ATZ white ceramic.

The RM 50-02 ACJ Tourbillon features a new redesigned split-second chronograph which uses 50% less power thanks to the reduction of friction within the movement and eliminates the initial ‘jump’ of the chronograph second hand.
