Watchmaker shoots for 2018 FIFA World Cup success

In anticipation for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia Hublot has opened the doors of its latest location in the city.

The Moscow-based 120sqm store, which opened one year ahead of the FIFA World Cup kick off, held a ribbon cutting ceremony on Red Square. The brand’s CEO Ricardo Guadalupe, CCO of FIFA Philippe Le Floc’h and World Cup record-holder Pele opened the boutique.

Hublot has struck a partnership deal with the 21st FIFA World Cup which is taking place from June 14 to July 15 2018 in Russia.

For its third year of participation in the FIFA World Cup, having partnered with the organisation for its tournaments in South Africa and Brazil, Hublot will be the event’s official timekeeper.

The brand is also paying tribute to the eight footballing nations that will compete on the pitch by presenting a unique series of interchangeable straps in the colours of participating countries on its emblematic Big Bang Unico model.

It will be the first ever World Cup to take place in Eastern Europe and the first to be held in a European nation since Germany hosted the tournament in 2006.

Following the announcement of the alliance in 2015 Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of Hublot, commented: “We are happy once again to be FIFA’s Official Timekeeper for the 2018 FIFA World Cup which will take place in Russia. Russia is a key market for Hublot, with Russian clients among our most significant buyers today. We can’t wait for the 1,000-day countdown to come to an end and for the competition to begin!”
