Watches2U hopes Black Friday will turbocharge fourth quarter sales

Watches2U will be offering discounts of 12% on top of already discounted prices when its Black Friday sale kicks off at midnight tonight.

Danny Toffel, founder and CEO of Watches2U says that the discounting day that has spread from America to over the past decade has changed the way people buy and the flow of sales between the start of November and Christmas.

“We embrace it and see very large spikes in sales during the Black Friday to Cyber Monday period,” he told WatchPro.

Watches2U will be running a sale for four days, a trend seen across watch retailers. In a spot poll with around fifty retailers conducted by WatchPro yesterday, more than half were running sales for four or more days, starting this week.

Watches2U says sales are up over 30% in the early weeks of pre-Christmas trading, which Mr Toffel hopes will continue through to the end of the year and put a gloss on an otherwise sluggish year. Sales have been flat for the first three quarters of 2016, but the fourth quarter is looking strong, Mr Toffel describes. “We are really excited about the growth we have seen across all our channels coming into the busiest time of the year,” he adds.
