Watches of Switzerland’s London flagship store hosted a charity party on Wednesday evening to help raise funds for a hospice project in Glasgow.
The star-studded evening at 155 Regent Street was held in aid of the Brick by Brick Appeal to fundraise for the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice, which is aiming to construct a new purpose-built hospice in Glasgow’s Bellahouston Park.
Brian Duffy, chief executive officer of Watches of Switzerland’s parent company Aurum Holdings, said: “We have had a great night for a great cause and our London Committee has been fantastic. Watches of Switzerland have been delighted to help. Andy Cameron was a brilliant host and has done a tip top job in raising a fortune on the night.”
Celebrities who turned out to help the charity achieve its £6m target for this year alone included Mary Portas, Lulu, Sharleen Spiriti, Carol Smilie, Christopher Biggins, Alex Mcleish, Amanda Wakely and artist Gerard Burns.
Rhona Bailey, chief executive officer of Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice, added: “Our London Committee of top Scots have really pulled out the stops to organise a cracking fundraiser and Glasgow comedian Andy Cameron pushed the celebrity crowd to give generously raising £85k on the night! Every penny raised will go to the building of our new Hospice in Bellahouston Park. We are so grateful to Brian Duffy, CEO of Watches of Switzerland for all his hard work and incredible hospitality! What a night!”
