London-based company 2tech has won the UK distribution for a watch that incorporates MasterCard contactless payment technology.
The watch, which is called Watch2Pay, includes a pin chip card that is a MasterCard PayPass prepaid card allowing wearers to swipe their watch to pay for purchases where contactless payments are accepted.
The Watch2Pay is available in eight designs options – with a leather strap, with a Union Jack design, set with a Swarovski crystal bezel, a key fob style and a watch with a solid gold bezel.
As well as providing a convenient payment method for its wearer, 2tech said that the Watch2Pay offers payment companies, such as MasterCard, a branding opportunity claiming that consumers look at their payment cards on average four times a day versus looking at their watch an average of 40 times a day.
