Vulcain has added an automatic chronograph to its historic range of aviation watches.
The Swiss manufacture launched its Aviator range after making watches for a national airline in the 1950s which then led to popularity among American pilots.
The new 44.6mm Aviator Instrument Chronograph is represented by six references. The ‘classic’ expression uses a polished case while the ‘sports’ version features a brushed case.
Arabic numerals on the dial are enhanced with Super-LumiNova while the chronograph push pieces match the colour of the dial.
The Aviator Instrument Chronograph comes with 30-minute and 12-hour registers at the 3 and 6 o’clock positions respectively and a central, sweeping seconds chrono hand. A seconds register at the 9 o’clock position mimics the appearance of the Alarm Flag appearing on radio altimeter cockpit instruments. On the reverse, an openworked rotor reveals the Vulcain Automatic V-59 movement beyond.
