UNDER THE GAVEL: Rolex Gold Daytona Paul Newman

It’s unsurprising that this Rolex Gold Daytona Paul Newman, with prototype lemon dial and white graphics, provoked an intense bidding war at Antiquorum Geneva.

Made in the late 1960s, this stunning piece, which exudes classic refinement thanks to its eye catching lemon dial and white graphics is very fine and extremely rare. Made from 18ct yellow gold, it is a water resistant, round button chronograph with a tachometer and anti-reflect black bezel. The lemon and black contrast beautifully giving the piece a fresh yet vintage look, which was obviously appreciated at the auction in May when the timepiece sold for CHF841,300 (£585,655).
