UNDER THE GAVEL: Goulding Young & Mawer

This unusual pocket watch looks like it could belong to Salvador Dali with its array of intriguing symbols on the dial, but it was in fact created with the secretive Masons in mind rather than surrealist art.

The William IV silver pocket watch was made in London in 1837 and sold at auction last month for £420. A perfectly themed watch as we prepare to bring the first UK trade show dedicated solely to watches the London Watch Show to the Freemasons’ Hall on July 2 and 3, which is the working headquarters of the Masons.
