Twistedtime founders launch Nomad watch brand

The confidence exhibited by new British design-led quartz watch brand Nomad is not surprising; it has been founded by two of the sector’s leading retailers.

Alan and Kelsey Moore of online retailer TwistedTime, both Trailblazers in WatchPro’s 2015 Hot 100, have worked with celebrated designer Samuel Wilkinson to create the first timepiece from Nomad, the Mòltair.

Wilkinson has created a deep curved case from textured stainless steel to mimic a cast iron pot for the Mòltair, which means cast in Gaelic, while the organic Swedish leather straps are mounted on the caseback with screwdown backplate.

For its launch edition, Mòltair is available in three colours: carbon (black), steel (silver) and gold, with different coloured hands on each. Designed for both men and women, the Mòltair ‘reflects Nomad’s mission to create timepieces that combine finely tuned design with genuine quality’.

Alan Moore, Nomad and TwistedTime co-founder, said: “Our name reflects our desire for ever-changing surroundings and exploration through design. Calling on a global network of collaborators, each watch will carry the clean lines and durable sensibilities of Nomad, as well as nuances of the designer’s own environment. From this core ethos, every watch we make will not only have true design integrity, but it will also be an authentic reflection of Nomad – it will be a product with a real story, and something we’re proud of.”

The Mòltair is available to pre-order from the brand’s website, priced at £185.
