British chronometer company Thomas Mercer is set to launch a new marine chronometer designed by superyacht designer Andrew Winch in September.

In April Thomas Mercer released the new calibre TM0801, the first mechanism after the brand underwent a relaunch.

Andrew Winch, creative director of Andrew Winch Designs, said: “It is an honour to be creating the Thomas Mercer Chronometer. Marine clocks have been the key technology for marine navigation and Thomas Mercer leads the field with their exquisite timepieces. I hope that they will grace many yachtsmen’s studies in the future.”

The British company, which is based in Richmond, had announced its return with a new generation of marine chronometers in February.

Thomas Mercer chief executive officer Alessandro Quintavalle said: “We are very proud to announce the return of Thomas Mercer and we believe the partnership with Andrew Winch Designs will be the key to the success of the re-launch of our brand.

"Mercer chronometers have always been associated with excellence in marine timekeeping and now the creative genius of Andrew Winch will make them incomparable.”
