The Watch Book offers 18 brand biographies

German publisher teNeues is set to release a 256-page, full colour horology extravaganza in October.

The Watch Book is written by wristwatch expert and historian Gisbert Brunner and Christian Pfeiffer-Belli, who supplied the photography from his own personal archive, with text in English, German and French.

The volume features 250 colour photographs and focuses on watches from Audemars Piguet, Breguet, Breitling, Cartier, Chopard, Glashütte Original, Hublot, IWC, Jaeger-LeCoultre, A. Lange & Söhne, Montblanc, Omega, Panerai, Patek Philippe, Piaget, Rolex, Vacheron Constantin and Zenith.

The book begins with a brief discussion on the meaning of time and how it is measured using mechanical means before embarking on in-depth biographies of 18 of the most respected watch manufactures.

Brunner, a veteran of more than 20 tomes on the subject of horology, began working in the field in 1964 and his keen interest in collecting chronographs lead to him writing his first articles on the subject.

Munich-based Pfeiffer-Belli, is editor-in-chief of German antique watch magazine Klassik Uhren and was owner of Germany’s largest library of horology books.

The Watch Book is published by teNeues in October in hardback priced £50.
