Omega centenary 1949

Silverstone Auction to include over 70 watches

More than 70 rare watches, including pieces from Rolex, Heuer Carrera, Breitling, Cartier and Omega, will be offered for sale at Silverstone Auctions’ sale, as part of the lifestyle collection, at the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show on November 15 and 16.

The auction, which is taking place at the NEC in Birmingham, includes a very rare Omega centenary chronometer made in 1949. Estimated at between £1,200 and £1,600, the watch was made to celebrate Omega’s centenary year. The watch comes complete with an Omega black leather strap, omega buckle and a centenary chronometer certificate.

Other highlights include an IWC Da-Vinchi Perpetual Calendar Moonphase Chronograph, made from 18ct gold with hinged lugs, estimated at between £7,500 and £9,500, and a Tag Heuer Monaco, famous for its association with legendary actor Steve McQueen and his starring role in the iconic film Le Mans, estimated at between £1,500 and £1,700.

Silverstone Auctions managing director Nick Whale said: “Our lifestyle collection is a great opportunity for watch collectors and aficionados to view and purchase a number of rare and highly desirable watches in one location.

“While some of the watches are expected to reach significant figures, there are also plenty on offer for those looking to secure a collectable timepiece for a more affordable sum.”

The lifestyle collection also includes a selection of fine wines, vintage jewellery and leather goods, joining more than 100 classic cars and a host of automobilia on offer at the NEC. Lots 101-270 will be offered on November 15 with lots 401-575 being offered on November 16.
