Shinola goes outdoors with Filson

Detroit watch brand, Shinola, which exhibited at last year’s Baselworld, has announced a collaboration with Filson, the manufacturer of goods for outdoor enthusiasts.

The Filson collection includes two case designs and 25 styles and will be launched in Filson’s Newburgh Street Store, just off London’s Regent Street, in March.

The partnership brings together Shinola’s Detroit-inspired lifestyle aesthetic with Filson’s penchant for producing clothing to survive the harshest conditions. The result is a range of watches that is designed to be both stylish and robust in equal measure.

"Filson and Shinola share a dedication to American manufacturing and products that are built to last. We are proud to join forces with Shinola to create these watches built for action using materials of the highest standards,” said Filson President, Gray Madden.

Shinola’s Steve Bock was equally enthusiastic about the union. “Sharing similar values when it comes to quality products, manufacturing Filson’s watches came naturally,”

The Mackinaw Field watches have been made for everyday field use, including both three-hand and chronograph versions, while the Journeyman is available as a GMT and chronograph, both with a World-Timer feature. Filson’s fingerprints are understandably all over the watches, with the straps made with bridle leather and Dry Tin Cloth, along with nylon, rubber, and Horween leather.

The watches will be available through Filson stores, filson.com, and select retailers in March 2015, while the two Journeyman rubber strap styles will be introduced and available for purchase in April 2015.
