Seiko is utilising the precision of GPS signals to identify time zone, time and date using the global network of satellites.
The new Seiko Astron, which will reach UK retailers as part of the autumn collection, recognises all 39 time zones as people travel the world and adjusts the watch hands automatically to the correct local time with atomic clock precision. Daylight saving time changes will happen automatically on the solar-powered timepiece.
The Astron will launch with a 2500 unit limited edition run of a titanium cased model with a ceramic bezel and a silicon strap.
Unlimited runs of another titanium model and two stainless steel versions will also be introduced later this year.
RRPs are expected to start at around £1500, with the limited edition model retailing for around £2600.
