Search for Nixon CEO over as Nick Stowe appointed

Nixon has named Nick Stowe as its new chief executive officer, stepping in to replace Andy Laats who is changing roles for family health reasons.

The Californian brand, which specialises in watches and accessories for the youth market, said that Stowe was selected after an "exhaustive search". Forty-three year old Stowe has more than 20 years’ successful leadership experience with start-ups and established global brands including jewellery company Stella & Dot, footwear brand Converse and clothing giant Hurley.

Talking about the appointment, Laats said: “Nick understands our potential, and he’s the kind of guy I want at Nixon. He’s an experienced leader who not only has formal business training but also knows how to grow strong consumer brands.”

Before his role as COO at Stella & Dot, Stowe held general management positions leading Converse’s international expansion and overseeing the growth of Nike’s subsidiary brand portfolio, which included Converse, Hurley, Cole Haan, Nike Bauer Hockey, and Starter.

Originally from the UK, Stowe began his career at Bain & Company, serving clients from the London, Moscow and San Francisco offices. Stowe has a BA from Oxford University and an MBA from Stanford University.

Speaking about his new role, Stowe commented: "I am tremendously excited to be joining Nixon. Andy, together with co-founder Chad DiNenna and the team, have built an incredible, authentic brand that has amazing potential. I’m excited about the products we have coming and the opportunities to introduce the brand to an even broader audience around the globe.”

Nixon is in the midst of further expanding in the UK and Europe and WatchPro recently announced that department store John Lewis introduced Nixon to its watch brand line up.

Expanding its retailer base, Nixon is now available at three premium John Lewis locations in the UK, the flagship store in Oxford Street, London, as well as the branches in Kingston Upon Thames and High Wycombe.
