School of Watchmaking celebrates 2012 graduates

The newest graduates from the British School of Watchmaking made their way into the world of professional watchmaking at a graduation ceremony held in Manchester last week.

Six new graduates were awarded their WOSTEP certificates from the British School of Watchmaking. They were Paul Mashiter, Christopher Bradshaw, Arron Shirley, Robert Nudds, Daniel Adair and Barrie Lee.

Mashiter was awarded a Tissot Chronograph as prize for being the top student in the class while Nudds was presented with a signed copy of George Daniel’s book Watchmaking for achieving the best performance in the theory exams.

Both Patek Philippe UK managing director Mark Hearn and WOSTEP director Marten Pieters gave upbeat speeches before the ceremony, describing a bright future awaiting the 2012 graduates. Hearn described watchmaking as “becoming a sexy industry”, something that was reiterated by Pieters who had travelled from Switzerland to attend the ceremony.

Also at the ceremony was Aurum chief executive Justin Stead who was there to hand out the awards to the graduates.
