Rox drives expansion with Newcastle opening

Leading Scottish watch and jewellery retailer Rox has opened its second store in England in the space of a month, as it continues its UK expansion drive.

The 3,080sq ft opening in Newcastle follows a £1 million investment, creating 10 new jobs in the city and further employment opportunities in the lead up to Christmas.

The split-level store in the city’s Monument Mall follows the opening in Trinity Leeds last month, and is the retailer’s biggest to date with Rox describing it as "the next level in luxury jewellery".

The Newcastle store houses luxury watches from brands including Baume & Mercier, Bell & Ross, Ebel, Rado and Raymond Weil. ROX Newcastle is also one of the few jewellers in the UK to play host to an in-store Gucci shop.

This flagship boutique features Rox’s trademark Thrill Room on the upper level, complete with Laurent-Perrier champagne bar.

Graven Images, the Glasgow based company behind the five star Blythswood Square in Glasgow and Hotel Missoni in Edinburgh, designed the space, as well as Rox’s other retail locations.

Rox managing director Kyron Keogh said: “We have been looking at expansion for some time now and when the opportunity came up in Monument Mall, we jumped at it. The new Hammerson development is really exciting and having a corner unit with floor to ceiling windows gives us great on-street presence.

“Our vision for was to create a cutting edge, luxurious space with the wow factor and this really knocks it out the park; we have some amazing stores in Scotland but this is by far our biggest, and most spectacular, to date.”
