Rolex closes in on grand slam of tennis majors as it adds US Open to its deals with Wimbledon and Australian Open

Rolex had added the US Open tennis tournament to its bulging trophy cabinet that already includes official partnership gongs for Wimbledon and the Australian Open. There is no word of a deal to partner with the French Open, which would give the Swiss watchmaker a grand slam of the majors.

The multi-year agreement as official timekeeper and official timepiece for the US Open begins immediately in the build-up to the New York tournament that starts August 27.

During the US Open, Rolex timepieces and clocks will be seen throughout the grounds of the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

The signature clock affixed to the outer façade of Arthur Ashe Stadium will now be the iconic Rolex display.

“As we celebrate 50 years of the US Open, we are delighted to welcome this iconic, luxury brand as a partner and we are thankful for their support of the USTA’s mission to grow the game,” said Gordon Smith, chief executive officer & executive director, at the US Tennis Association.

“Our long-term commitment to supporting the pinnacle of tennis over the past 40 years has been an exciting journey that started with our association with The Championships, Wimbledon in 1978, and includes a second grand slam tournament as associate sponsor and official timekeeper of the Australian Open,” said Stewart Wicht, president and CEO of Rolex Watch USA.

“It was only natural that Rolex would seek to build on its grand slam heritage, in this case through an association with the USTA and its flagship tournament, the US Open. The partnership brings together two organisations who share a passion for quality, excellence, precision and performance.”

Rolex also has a world-leading line up of testimonees from tennis including Roger Federer, Juan Martín Del Potro (Argentina), Grigor Dimitrov (Bulgaria), Caroline Garcia (France), Angelique Kerber (Germany), Garbiñe Muguruza (Spain), Jelena Ostapenko (Latvia), Lucas Pouille (France), Milos Raonic (Canada), Dominic Thiem (Austria), Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (France) and Caroline Wozniacki (Denmark). It even has most of the biggest names from the past on the books such as Björn Borg (Sweden), Stefan Edberg (Sweden), Chris Evert (USA), Justine Henin (Belgium), Rod Laver (Australia) and Li Na (China).
