By Deepa Narwani

In cooperation with TAITO Corporation, RJ-Romain Jerome will launcha collection of watches inspired by Space Invaders that have been made using fragments of spaceship Apollo II.

RJ-Romain Jerome, chief executive officer Manuel Emch, said that he is a former game addict from the generation of Space Invaders, a fact that no doubt sparked the creation of the watches.

The watches four functional ball-and-socket joints on the corners of the case are shaped like the legs of the lunar landing modules of American lunar missions.

The dial consists of three layers: the first two are beadblasted and the straight graining gives a pixelated aspect to the third layer.

Measuring around 3.5 mm each, the timepieces are machined one by one, applied by hand and lacquered in various colours.

The pixelated figures will be available in eight limited edition pieces.
