Rado reveals Andy Murray as latest ambassador

Swiss watch brand Rado has today revealed Britain’s number one tennis player and the world’s fourth ranking player Andy Murray as its newest ambassador.

The brand was recently announced as official timekeeper of the Aegon Queens tennis tournament, with the Rado D-Star 200 Automatic named the official watch of the sponsorship.

Now Murray has scored some points in this latest ambassador partnering for Rado, and will become the face of the Rado D-Star collection for the 2012 summer season.

Murray said: “I’m really excited about joining the Rado team. The brand is all about edgy style and performance. Timing, precision and accuracy are vitally important for me, whether that relates to fitness drills, measuring my performance or striking a tennis ball.”

Murray will wear the Rado D-Star 200 Automatic, a blue high-tech ceramic timepiece and the same watch as is sponsoring Queens.

Rado’s chief executive Matthias Breschan said of the signing: “Andy Murray always stands out from the crowd with his distinctive playing style and unrivalled tactical intelligence. Rado admires his true talent and perfectionism – and at the same time can identify totally with his racquet rebel side.”

Murray has won 22 career ATP titles and in 2011 became only the seventh player since 1968 to reach the semi-finals of all four Grand Slam tournaments in one year.
